About the event
Islands in the Laguna Madre come alive during the summer as hundreds of colonial waterbirds gather there to nest in large rookeries! These islands are extremely important for the successful reproduction of our coastal bird species!
Join us an exciting family adventure to see an incredible nesting island close to Port Isabel in partnership with Isla Tours! We should expect to see nesting Roseate Spoonbills, Tricolored Herons, Reddish Egrets, Black-crowned Night-Herons, Black Skimmers, and more! Plus, their cute chicks!! We will also enjoy dolphin watching along the way.
The adventure will be narrated by our Naturalist Educator and Isla Tours' Captains!
You don't want to miss this opportunity to see and learn about the amazing breeding ecology of our resident colonial waterbirds! This event is part of our "Lower Laguna Madre Young Birders Club" educational programming.
