LLMYBC World Shorebirds Day
Connecting youth to nature through birding!
Time & Location
Sep 05, 2026, 9:00 AM – 11:30 AM
SPI Birding & Nature Center, 6801 Padre Blvd, South Padre Island, TX 78597, USA
About the Event
The Lower Laguna Madre Young Birders Club aims to connect youth with nature through birding, with a goal to build an environmentally conscious future while having lots of fun!
Join us as we focus on shorebird migration and biodiversity as we celebrate World Shorebirds Day by conducting a shorebird (sandpipers, plovers, and allies) survey of our wetlands for science!
During this shorebird survey, we will set out to see and enjoy as many shorebird species as possible along our wetlands from our boardwalk trail. We'll take time to observe their habits and behaviors, and we will discuss their incredible migrations and the need for healthy ecosystems for their conservation.
We invite youth (9-15 years of age) to be part of the club and enjoy a morning of birding with us! Parents and guardians are welcome to participate with paid general admission and do not need to register. Thank you.
If you are already an official club member, please email Naturalist Javier Gonzalez at naturalist@spibirding.com, to be added to the registration roster. Thank you.
