Photo Contest
The southern coastal tip of Texas offers an incredible landscape and biodiversity for outstanding nature photography opportunity!
WOWE is celebrating this special nature through the lenses of the people that enjoy it so much via a friendly nature photo contest!

Funds raised will support habitat projects and education initiatives at the SPI Birding Nature Center & Alligator Sanctuary.
Read below for submission guidelines!

Categories: up to 3 photo submissions per category are allowed.

Environment (Sceneries/Landscapes)
-
Birds (must be wild, no domestic or captive birds)
-
Other Coastal Animals (i.e. wild mammals, reptiles, butterflies)
-
Photographed at the South Padre Island Birding & Nature Center
-
Youth 11-17 years of age (Any nature photo taken within the contest boundaries)
Timeline:

Only photos taken since January 1st 2025 are eligible for submission.

Submission Deadline - January 24th 2026.
Area:
-
Photos must be taken within area boundary which includes South Padre Island, the Laguna Atascosa NWR area, Boca Chica Beach, and areas and parks E. of FM1847 (Los Fresnos) and north of State Highway 4 and FM511. See map below for details.

Photo submission qualifications:

Photos must be 8x10 (or 2400x3000) at 300dpi to qualify.
Awards:
-
Each photo form submitted will grant a free entry pass to WOWE at the South Padre Island Birding Nature Center & Alligator Sanctuary on Saturday, February 7th where the awards ceremony will be held from 3pm-3:45pm. All photo submissions will be exhibited during WOWE 2026 from Feb 5-7th! There will be 5 finalists and 3 prized winners per category.
