Time & Location
Jun 20, 2026, 10:00 AM – 12:00 PM
South Padre Island Birding & Nature Cent, 6801 Padre Blvd, South Padre Island, TX 78597, USA
About the Event
Girl Scouts will explore three different bodies of water, where they'll investigate key indicators of water quality, including salinity, turbidity, temperature, nitrogen, dissolved oxygen, and phosphorus levels. Through hands-on testing, they'll build scientific observation skills and gain a deeper understanding of local ecosystems.
As part of the Think Like a Citizen Scientist Journey, participants will learn how scientists gather data, make observations and collaborate with professional researchers. They'll put these skills into practice by completing three engaging activities, including interactive observation games and a SciStarter project.
To wrap up, Girl Scouts will apply what they've learned by designing a Take Action project aimed at improving water quality and helping their community.
This program supports progress toward earning the Citizen Scientist Badge while encouraging curiosity, observation skills, and appreciation for nature. Event limited to 15 participants. Register now!
